The Takshashila Institution conducted a two-day online Academic Conference for its 35th cohort of Graduate Certificate in Public Policy (GCPP) students on June 3rd and 4th, 2023. Over 200 students from the cohort attended the conference.

The Takshashila Institution hosted a farewell dinner for outgoing Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O' Farrell on June 2nd, 2023, at the Bangalore International Centre. The guest of honor was Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Indian entrepreneur, and chairperson and founder of Biocon.

Nitin Pai, Co-founder & Director of Takshashila Institution, will be delivering a a talk on ‘How Do We Govern Hyperdiverse Societies?’ at the Santa Fe Institute, on May 11, 2023, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm US Mountain Time. The talk will discuss the challenges of managing hyperdiversity with some illustrative examples from India and invite the participants to think about how liberal democratic societies might address them.

The Takshashila Institution, in collaboration with the British Deputy High Commission, Bengaluru, co-organised a two-day event on India, UK and the Indo-Pacific on March 26-27, 2023. Given the significance of the Indo-Pacific, the event saw three themed panel discussions by experts who presented their views on the potential for India and the U.K. to partner across domains and shape the world order. Students and alumni from Takshashila also attended the event.

The Takshashila Institution, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Evolutionary Biologists, organised a 3-day Evolutionary Biology Workshop from Friday, March 10, 2023 to Sunday, March 12, 2023. The objective of the workshop was identifying insights from evolutionary biology for application in building public policy frameworks.

The Takshashila Institution organised the first edition of the Church Street Forum on Tech Policy on Friday, March 3, 2023. The roundtable discussion saw the participation of members from India Stack, venture capital firms, tech companies, academia, and digital rights organisations. The discussion focused on India’s ability to harness its technological prowess to boost national power and influence geopolitics in a meaningful way. Avenues for engagement with domestic policymakers and collaboration with international partners were also discussed.

Takshashila Institution collaborated with the Bangalore International Centre for the 4th edition of BIC Hub’ba 2023 on February 25th & 26th, 2023. Faculty and staff from Takshashila made presentations and led discussions at the Policy Adda, as part of the festival. The event had an interesting mix of policy wonks, members of civil society organisations, and a curious audience.

akshashila Institution’s Biology and Policy Society held its inaugural conference on Friday, February 17th, 2023. The theme for the conference was ‘A New Way to Analyse Climate Change using Biological Reasoning’. The discussion focused on biological reasoning frameworks that can assist in fast-tracking climate action. The participants discussed human behavioural tendencies which impede urgent climate action.

The Takshashila Institution, India's premier independent centre for research and education in public policy, has announced its Network for Advanced Study of Pakistan (NASP) Fellowship, a unique programme that aims to create high quality scholarship and knowledge of Pakistan by nurturing new generations of analysts in academia, think tanks, media and industry.

Takshashila Institution organised a Conference on Understanding the Post-Pandemic World on Wednesday, 8th February 2023 at its office. The conference focused on resetting our common understanding of the post-pandemic world based on the latest geopolitical, geo-economic & tech trends. Nitin Pai, Director of Takshashila Institution, chaired the conference.

On Friday, 3rd February 2023, the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) in Bangalore in association with the Consulate General of France in Bangalore organized a session on the Analysis of the Union Budget of India 2023 and its impact on businesses.

Takshashila Institution’s and the world’s only daily public policy podcast completed 1000 episodes on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. We marked the event with the release of a special episode and a small celebration at our office, in which Rohini Nilekani and Amit Varma also joined us.

Shambhavi Naik, Head of Research at Takshashila Institution participated in the Think20 Inception Conference, New Delhi on January 13-24, 2023. She was part of the panel on Beyond the Banter: Inclusive Digital Infrastructure and Agenda 2030.

Takshashila Institution organised a discussion on outer space with Dr. Brian Weeden (Director of Program Planning for Secure World Foundation) on Wednesday, January 12, 2023. Prof. S. Chandrashekar (National Institute of Advanced Studies), Group Captain Anand Rao, Ashok G.V. (Partner, Factum Law) and Shreyas Mirji (Digantara) also participated, along with staff from Takshashila.

The Takshashila Institution conducted Ideas Shala 2023 on Saturday & Sunday, January 8 & 9, 2023 at Discovery Village, Nandi Hills. It was attended by 30+ alumni from GCPP and PGP programmes and staff of Takshashila. The two-days intensive Shala involved learning new frameworks to approach public policy problems, spontaneous order discussions on various burning issues, keynote talk by Ms. Suhasini Haidar, Diplomatic Affairs Editor at The Hindu, and a round of Nagara - The Democracy game created by Takshashila.

Takshashila Institution and HGV Family organised the 5th Dr. HGV Reddy Memorial Lecture on Monday, December 26, 2022 at our office in Bengaluru. Mr. Anand Arni, Distinguished Fellow, Takshashila Institution spoke at the event and he was joined in conversation by Ambassador Latha Reddy and Dr. Vijay Chandru.

Takshashila Institution held a roundtable on ‘Energising India’s Biotech Sector’ on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at our office in Bengaluru. The discussion centered around the recommendations put forward by us for India’s biotech sector over the last two years.

The 5th edition of the Law Economics Policy Conference (LEPC), jointly organised by the Institute for New Economic Thinking, INET and FLAME University, Pune, took place from November 28-30, 2022.
